From the time Crystal was a little girl she prayed for her future husband. “As a child, I remember asking Heavenly Father to help guide my future husband and bless him to make righteous decisions,” she recalled. When Crystal was 23 years old, she met and married her husband, Jeffrey Young. He was 10 years older than her. Crystal’s husband came from a large family of boys. Their dad was a busy man who did not spend time mentoring his sons through the Scouting program. One Sunday Crystal and Jeffrey went to visit the ward Jeffrey grew up in. Jeffrey introduced Crystal to his Scoutmaster, Dale Jolley. Brother Jolley had been the Scoutmaster for 15 years and had mentored a whole generation of righteous boys in the Scouting program. Brother Jolley had worked tirelessly to help Jeffrey and the other Scouts receive their Eagle Scout Award. Crystal remembers, “When I shook Brother Jolley’s hand, I had an impression. This is the man who was an instrument in God’s hands and answered your prayers when you were a child. You prayed for leaders and others to work with your husband. Through Scouting, this man shaped your husband into the righteous man he is today.” “I realized that when I was a little girl praying for my husband, he was 16 years old and was heavily involved in Scouting. Brother Jolley and Scouting made the difference in keeping Jeffrey on the right path and making the decisions which led to the righteous man he is today.” Today Crystal and her husband have 10 children; 7 girls and 3 boys. Crystal added, “I feel blessed to have a righteous husband and father for my children. I know God heard the sincere desires of my heart and prompted me to pray for priesthood leaders who were in a position to model righteousness, and then God answered my prayers by providing a righteous husband.” -Submitted by Dana Wiest, Church Service Missionary
