Carson Lowder recently completed his Eagle Scout Award. Carson has been very active in his Ward and Scouting units his entire youth. Carson’s Eagle project was building Mount Bluebird houses for his local Fish and Game Department. His team built about 30 of them and painted them to blend into the environment. Carson’s project took place over two Saturday afternoons with a few hours in between prepping or correcting things. Carson also spent about 65 hours in planning and collecting donations for the project. Credit goes to Home Depot and a few family members for donating most of the materials.
Carson has been the Boatswain for his Scout Ship for about the last two years. Ship 1492 is charted by the Pocatello Community Charter School. They have been a ship for about 4 years. Joseph, Carson’s brother joined in the fall of 2018 with Carson following a few weeks later. and he has been active ever since. While in Sea Scouts, Carson has helped with the major refurbishing of our small and main sailboat (about a 20-foot boat). Carson has also been very active in promoting Sea Scouts at our local Scout expos, NYLT, and other local scouting events.
Carson still participates in Sea Scouts while attending his first semester at BYU-Idaho. He’s currently working on his Ordinary Sea Scout rank and plans on a mission this coming year.
The local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post attended Carson’s Eagle Court of Honor as Carson has always been impressed with the Post members he sees in our local parades and other community events. The Post (including some Ward members) was happy to recognize Carson’s achievement.
